In addition to the Petersen HIV Clinics, the University of Arizona Division of Infectious Diseases also oversees—via a federal HRSA grant—operation of the Pacific AIDS Education Training Center (PAETC) a local partner, with the Regional Pacific AETC and AETC National Coordinating Resource Center.
The mission of the Pacific AETC - Arizona is to provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide outstanding care to people living with HIV and AIDS.
We provide:
- Educational programs about HIV infection for healthcare professionals—physicians, dentists, nurses, mid-level practitioners (NPs, PAs), pharmacists and mental health workers—with access to training from peer colleagues who possess expertise in the management and treatment of HIV disease
- Clinical training opportunities at HIV patient care sites targeting clinicians with low- to mid-volume HIV patients in their practice, and including statewide continuing education sessions, consultations with experts, and preceptorships with clinicians who have a large number of HIV patients in their practice
- Timely updates to healthcare professionals on HIV-related treatment and care issues
- The latest information about available HIV service programs and resources
The Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center Arizona also facilitates dialogue between urban and rural practitioners, and collaborates with other Ryan White Care Act consortia providers across the state of Arizona.
